The library has a number of great resources to help you conduct your research. Please see the following for some good starting places.

  •
You may want to start with a general encyclopedia (print or electronic) for background on your subject.

To search the entire library for subject encyclopedias, books, magazines, videos, and other types of materials, you can use the St Mark's Libraries Catalog online, from home or school, to search for items and print booklists. For help using the catalog or any of the library's online resources, see our guide to Using the Library.

  • You may use the Databases page as a good way to see all of the electronic resources and subscriptions available from the library. Here you will find information on how to access the databases, while on campus or from home, as well as instruction on how to build a search and print your results. Ebscohost and Proquest will be especially useful for contemporary topics.

  • For an overviews of the resource of the library, please see our Subject Guides. This list is arranged according to the Dewey Decimal System and you can look within the list for the general section that might best cover your specific topic. For example, if you are interested in reading news articles or general encyclopedia entries, which will also include multi-media pieces with pictures, you might review the 000s Information and General Works page.

Microsoft provides a helpful training page on its website with tools and techniques you can use to make your PowerPoint presentation really great. PowerPoint 2007 Courses (Microsoft.com)

And finally, the librarians are here to help, so feel free to bring your questions to Mrs. Gilbert or Ms. Thoma.
